Our History
Over 30 years ago, a 25-year-old visionary, Mauricio Villegas Castro, discovered the potential of these lands and founded our hotel. In its early days, it was a small retreat with just 10 rustic cabins, designed to welcome the first backpacker tourists arriving in La Fortuna. At that time, the region was primarily agricultural and cattle farming, and the Arenal Volcano was a little-known mountain. However, its eruption in 1968 revealed its majestic presence, attracting a growing number of visitors. Over time, our hotel grew alongside La Fortuna, expanding its facilities to provide our guests with an authentic and comfortable experience in an unparalleled natural setting.
